Faculty of Mathematical Sciences founded in 1962 consists of the three departments Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Statistics. The Faculty aims at training professional researchers in various mathematical and statistical subject areas. Researchers in this field are supposed to critically analyze the current affairs of many different areas, including economic, industrial, medical, and social sciences centers, financial markets, insurance industry as well as other subject areas. Graduate students are expected to have analytical skills to analyze the statistical and mathematical models in related issues by implementing different types of instruments and software.

All Departments were declared Centers of Excellence by the Ministry of Sciences, Research and Technology in 2000 and have retained the status since.
